The Virginia Commonwealth University Division of University Relations is responsible for articulating and enhancing VCU’s enterprise brand and support the goals of the university and its academic health sciences center through strategic, creative and effective integrated communications.
This position reports to the University Marketing Director of Strategic Account Services and may assist with any of the division’s activities.
University Marketing develops and manages external marketing strategies for the university as a whole, as well as for schools, divisions, centers and other units within the university. As an internal agency, University Marketing works to guide and streamline communications across all university stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and impactful creative execution. Our continuum of integrated services includes brand development, collateral production, digital and print advertising, media planning and buying, website development, photography, and video production.
This role serves as primary liaison with assigned clients and is responsible for ensuring their satisfaction. Leads and collaborates with teams in the creation of strategic, creative and effective integrated marketing communications. Partners with a project manager to manage and direct work through project life cycle including scoping, project intake, creative development and channel execution. Develops and executes strategies as well as problem-solves with the creative and project management teams to ensure assignments meet objectives. Develops solid business relationships with internal and external constituents. Helps to establish and manage financial goals for their client base in a charge-back system.
Ability to exercise strategic thought leadership in regard to university marketing communications. Demonstrated ability to write, present and sell marketing communications plans. Demonstrated ability to write strategic creative briefs. Demonstrated ability to apply integrated marketing solutions including research, branding, PR, print, web/digital, paid media and social media. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex and diverse clients. Extensive experience in account management in a creative environment. Excellent customer service and project management skills. Strong attention to detail with high regard to accuracy essential. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Proven knowledge of digital marketing expertise.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications or equivalent work experience.
