The Bermuda Tourism Authority is seeking a Business Development Specialist in the New York Office. This position reports to the Director Sales & Business Development to develop new group business for Bermuda from existing and emerging markets
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Research, prospect and qualify new business opportunities utilizing internal and external resources (online, print and telephone). Identify people, industries, companies and associations with potential business, and follow up to qualify leads that match Bermuda’s needs.
Distribute qualified leads to on island partners through CRM system.
Advocate on behalf of the BTA brand with external stakeholders and meeting professionals across all communications channels and vehicles.
Maintain timely, accurate and uniform documentation of all sales records in the CRM system.
Gather, organize and post all historic data related to group sales performance in the CRM system.
Keep up to date on changes to on island products and services that maybe relevant and attractive to groups.
May be responsible for presenting data in charts, graphs, tables or other formats for customer or stakeholder presentations.
Maintain research on competitive destinations regarding product inventory, marketing and sales strategies.
Assist with administrative duties related to group sales process and sales reporting.
Have a keen understanding of the BTA mission, vision and goals and the National Tourism Plan, including key initiatives, quick wins and timelines.
Demonstrate a complete commitment to the goals and mission of BTA.
Represent the BTA professionally at company and client sponsored events.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with BTA partners and stakeholders.
Perform other related duties, special projects and assignments as required.
Requirements for this opportunity are:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or analytical field
1-3 years of experience in similar business development role (ideally in a hospitality industry).
A self-starter who is passionate about uncovering leads, developing business and deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work with large dataset and summarize findings in a clear format.
Combine creative and pragmatic use of insight and data with attention to detail.
Strong mathematical skills to analyze reports including conversion rates, business won and lost and return on investment -formulas.
Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced knowledge of Excel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products, including PowerPoint, Word and ability to quickly learn industry related windows software.
Simpleview, CVENT and LinkedIn Sales Navigator experience desired.
