The Director of Digital Marketing & Media Relations is responsible for providing excellent writing, media relations, and website/social media marketing that exploits opportunities in mass media to extend Enterprise Minnesota’s strategic messages and drives visibility for Minnesota manufacturing, Enterprise Minnesota, its consultants, and organizational partners. This role works directly with business development staff to leverage marketing resources for direct sales follow up, and collaboratively/cross-functionally with members of the marketing team and consulting team; is optimistic by nature, and a proactive self-starter – initiating and accomplishing work to achieve department objectives that help meet Enterprise Minnesota’s business goals. The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing, and is located at the corporate office in Minneapolis.
Conceives and develops promotional ideas; produces, manages and executes publicity to gain coverage from Minnesota/regional media and other key audiences that promotes Enterprise Minnesota’s marketing initiatives including events (approx. 34 per year), website, social media, TheWeekly Report digital newsletter (published 36X annually), Enterprise Minnesota® magazine (published quarterly), The State of Manufacturing® survey, focus groups and events, Enterprise Minnesota’s state and federal legislative initiatives serving manufacturers, and celebratory events with client companies that achieve business results through our consulting and legislative work.
Manage website content/SEO to continually leverage strategic visibility for Enterprise Minnesota’s consulting services, Enterprise Minnesota publications, digital content, events, employees, and external stakeholders. Manage relationship with Enterprise Minnesota’s external web vendor.
Write, edit and produce The Weekly Report, news releases, website promotional content (excludes Enterprise Minnesota® magazine), NIST/MEP (federal affiliate) “success stories,” organizational collateral materials, such as the corporate brochure, and “trade” show banners, and other materials as needed. Manage email marketing campaigns through MailChimp, mailing lists, and work to increase subscriber rates. Promote video and audio content, including podcasts across all applicable platforms.
Working collaboratively with staff, orchestrate promotion that drives manufacturers to attend events; market coverage of events to news reporters to garner external media coverage; promote business lead development; and leverage Enterprise Minnesota media to cover event content and consulting staff.
Serve as photographer and recorder of events, celebrations and client tours.
A minimum of 6-plus years of experience in digital marketing, website management, promotional writing, media relations, public relations and/or public affairs. Experience in a legislative environment is a plus.
Excellent promotional/news writing skills.
Proactive, strategic communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Experience with content management systems, SEO, and inbound marketing principles.
Strong knowledge/skills in the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft CRM. Knowledge/use of PowerObjects a plus.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop.
Understanding of HTML.
Strong eye for detail.
